Baneblade progress!

It's springtime so my hobby time has been impacted by needing to clean up the property as well as getting some time in my workshop working on my cars.  However I've slowly been working on getting my Baneblade together.

My plan from here is to start adding extra custom bits to it to step the detail up another level, and then Primer!

We all started somewhere

A little background, I started playing 40k in 1998 at 16 years old.  I had played with and painted battletech figures, however all my work was done with enamels and was primarily two tone bright color paint jobs.  The only paints I had access to were either GW paints, craft store paints or Testors acrylic and enamel paints.

These paint jobs are bad, they are bad even by the standards of the time which were far lower than in the modern Internet era.  The point of this is, I got better, in fact most of my growth came in more modern times.

My first real advance came with making washes from inks in the early 2000's this was a technique I hadn't really seen or heard of until I started to see it around the Internet.  This made simple basic color paint jobs gain a new level of depth and shading.  The last 3 or 4 years have been when I've seen the most growth in my skills.  Every model I paint, I try a new technique, I work with better materials, I push myself to try something more difficult.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't the important thing is I'm always getting better.

In these pictures you can see two of my new models behind my three old Black Templar models.  These aren't even some of the worst examples, but due to sitting in boxes for a couple of decades, most of them are in small poorly built badly painted pieces.

Angry Maximilian The Rogue Trader

With Mad Max in the theaters and my buddies talking it up I felt inspired to create a Mad Max themed scenario.

Armies: Both armies must consist entirely of units capable of moving at least 12" a turn in the movement phase, or be mounted in transports that can move at least 12" a turn.

On a 6x4 board the middle 6" lengthwise will be the Road.  Deploy terrain across the rest of the board as usual leaving the road clear.

Place the objective vehicle 12" from one short board edge in the road.

Deployment zones:

The Defender deploys within 6" of the Objective Vehicle, any reserves come in from the short board edge that the objective vehicle starts at.

The Attacker deploys within 6" of both long table edges.

The Objective vehicle has a front AV of 14 and side AV of 13, it does not have a rear AV value, you can't risk destroying the precious cargo by shooting the rear! It has 4 hull points.  It always moves 12" straight ahead at the start of the defenders Movement phase each turn.  Any unit that is in front of the objective vehicle suffers the effect of a ram or tank shock.  If the unit survives the ram or tank shock it is just moved immediately to the side of the objective vehicle.

The attacker wins by immobilizing or getting a 'destroyed' result on the vehicle.  Defender wins if the vehicle makes it through 6 turns.

I still need to flesh out the vehicle more and play test it but I think it has potential to be a fun scenario.  I don't have any relevant pictures so here's some sleeping office dogs and a grim dark port o potty.
