Chimera finished

I've finished up the Chimera, I've only got a potato camera pic so far, I'll take better pics later and create a paint guide video to go with it when I have additional time.  So for now, here's what I've got.

I'm not entirely happy with the final product, I liked the dozer blade and I liked the Tank chassis, I just don't care for the way the two came together.  Oh well, it was a definite learning experience.

This Chimera is still coming along

I'm pretty much done with the painting the Chimera's tank body, I'm working on weathering the dozer blade now.  This was my first time using decals in over a decade and I'm mostly happy with how they came out..

Another pack of 5 genestealers finished

I really like painting these guys, after doing a relatively intense project like the Death Company assault troops it is such an easy laid back paint job that gets great results.

A sneak peak at my next projects

My genestealers sitting on my desk are just waiting on one more coat of sealant so while they cure I've started on my next projects.

I've got two squads of Catachan Veterans waiting on their regular lasgun troops to round them out, so I'm going to build out ten Catachans in the color scheme below.

Of course veterans need a sweet ride, so here's their Chimera, I've eliminated the lasguns and replaced the openings with mesh as well as a few other doo dads.

File this one Under You've got to have goals. Massive Forgeworld collection

I saw this video and it transfixed me.  I ended up watching it three times just to catch all the models and all the details on the board.  What a fantastic collection!

Sanctum Imperialis Paint guide and pictures

I finished my Sanctum Imperialis, my goal is to buy a second kit and join it to the first kit so I have a larger building so I built it in a way where I could do this and saved the paint steps for guidance.

For those just here for the pretty pictures!

I also figured out how I want to paint my Shrine of the Aquilla to match the style GW used on their website.

Feel free to let me know what you think or if you have any questions!

Citadel Mephiston Red Compare to Minitaire Nebula Red

I shot these photos real quick on a piece of scratch card so a little bit of blue that I didn't realize was on there might be shining through.

Straight out of the pot the higher saturation of the Citadel Foundation paint makes it look starkly different.  At the bottom as I diluted it closer to airbrush thickness (this is ~2:1 I usually end up diluting to 5:1 or so) it starts to look closer to the Nebula Red.

As you can see as you layer on the Nebula Red it does start to get the same saturation as the Mephiston Red.  Here's my Captain Karlaen from the Shield of Baal: Deathstorm box as an example.  I intend to use this same technique and color for my Terminators as well.

Started on Space Hulk Genestealers for my Hive Fleet Kraken Army

These are the first models I'm doing in addition to my existing Hive fleet Kraken figures from the Shield of Baal: Deathstorm

I'm using the new larger 32mm bases for these guys since they fit better and it gives me more room to work.

Here's the scheme I used on the Shield of Baal figures.

Shield of Baal Deathstorm: Death Company figures finished

These figures are awesome, tons of detail incredible lines and fitment lots of bit and posing options, and a total pain in the ass to paint.  One of these guys has 20 gems and vials 8 or 9 purity seals and just tons of work...

The figures are based with vallejo surface primer black and highlighted with minitaire Badger Fur.
